Nine arrests after street fight

NINE Nine people have been arrested after a disturbance in a North Tyneside street at the weekend. At 1.11am on Saturday, February 11, officers were called to a street fight between four to five youths in Kirkland Walk, Shiremoor.

Police attended and found a 21-year-old man with a minor head injury, a 41-year-old man suffering a broken nose and a 50-year-old woman with cuts above her right eye and head.

Officers have arrested nine people aged between 16 and 21 in connection with the incident and enquiries are ongoing.

Detective Inspector Jeff Brown of Northumbria Police said: “This incident has happened in the street. Officers took swift and effective action to arrest the suspects and we’re increasing patrols in the area today to provide extra support to residents.”

All nine people arrested, currently remain in custody helping police with their enquiries.
