A North Shields man has been charged in connection with several knife-point robberies to local shops in North Tyneside and Newcastle.

Clinton William Baldwin, 41, has been charged with eight counts of robbery.

He has been remanded in custody and will appear at Newcastle Magistrates Court today (Saturday, February 25).

Northumbria Police had arrested two men on Thursday following the series of armed robberies.
