North Tyneside Royal British Legion branch thanks Poppy Appeal volunteers for helping it raise £74,000
The Royal British Legion's Whitley Bay, North Shields and district branch has held a presentation evening to thank volunteers for helping it raise more than £74,000 during last year's Poppy Appeal.
Individual volunteers and affiliated youth organisations all put in time and effort to sell poppies and collect cash in North Tyneside in November.
New branch chairman Roslyn Hastie-Murray said: “The time and effort contributed by this team of people and the generosity of the people of Whitley Bay, Tynemouth and North Shields is greatly appreciated by the Royal British Legion, which works to support serving and ex-serving personnel and their dependants.”
Tynemouth MP Alan Campbell was among those at the evening, held at Whitley Bay Comrades’ Club.
