Nurse joins dementia services
Extra help is now at hand for North Tyneside families affected by dementia.
A specialist service has been launched by Age UK North Tyneside to provide groups and activities for people with dementia and their carers, as well as one-to-one support.
Working with Dementia UK and the Ballinger Trust, the service has also appointed Dementia Care Admiral Nurse Rachel Watson.
She will offer expert clinical support to help families cope with the fear and uncertainty of dementia, and provide a link to join up different parts of the health and social care system.
Age UK North Tyneside chief executive Alma Caldwell said: “It is a real coup for a charity to have such a post and we are only one of two in the north east that has one working alongside our dementia support team. This puts us at the forefront of providing excellent support services.”
