STAFF and residents at Cleveland Park Care Home in North Shields celebrated Easter Sunday with more than the usual chocolate eggs after hatching nine fluffy chicks.

An incubator was fitted at the Cleveland Road home, and nine out of the ten eggs inside hatched just in time for the Easter celebrations.

Christine Gibson, the care home’s business manager, said: “The residents loved them.

“They do not get to see many pets here, so it’s been nice having baby chicks.

“Everyone loves baby chicks, but it makes it more special that it’s Easter.”
