Pair offered places at Oxford University

Two students are celebrating after being awarded coveted places to study at Oxford University.

Kings Priory School pupil Alice Buhaenko has been offered a place at Worcester College to read music while Georgia Scurfield has a place at St Hilda’s College to study chemistry.

Georgia, who has been at the school since 2008, said: “I am absolutely thrilled and so excited to have been awarded a place. I am so grateful for the support from all the teachers who have helped me achieve this dream.”

Composer and pianist Alice, who joined the school in 2013 for Sixth Form, added: “I am still skipping.

“Oxford has been a dream for a long time, and being awarded a place gives me the inspiration to want to achieve my full potential at A-level.”

Philip Sanderson, senior head of chapter at Kings Priory School, said: “We are so proud of both girls.”

“Their talent, work ethic and dedication are second to none and they are both a credit to themselves, their families and of course, our school.

“I wish to extend my thanks to the music and science teams at Kings Priory School for their support and inspirational teaching.”
