Panto stars tread boards for charity

MEMBERS of Whitley Bay Pantomime Society have been treading the boards for charity.

The society has donated £1,400 raised at performances of its panto Cinderella last year to seven charities including Tynemouth Volunteer Life Brigade, North Tyneside Hospital League of Friends and Marie Curie Cancer Care.

Borough mayor Linda Arkley presented cheques for £200 to the charities on the society’s behalf.

She said: “The generosity of the theatre group in raising this fantastic sum reflects the high regard the members have for the charitable causes they are supporting.”
