Parents have been celebrating their achievements over the last academic year.

Students and volunteers at Riverside Children’s Centre in North Shields were presented with certificates by Paul Surtees, from the Adult Learning Alliance, for a variety of courses including English, maths, cookery and first aid.

Kate Williams, acting head of centres east, said: “Families come to the children’s centres to learn new skills, make new friends, get support, volunteer and gain qualifications.

“I am very proud of the families who attend, the number achieving qualifications rises year on year and this is our chance to thank them and celebrate their successes.”
