PARKING: Permits are the answer

So North Tyneside is to introduce a flexible parking initiative so drivers can use the same ticket to park at all charged facilities along the coast and to trial a cashless parking system.

I seem to recall we had a perfectly good system which met both requirements. It was called a Foreshore Parking Permit for which the council received payment for 12 months in advance.

It was an attractive option at £50 a year, but I suspect it has effectively been killed off by the increase to £250. I certainly did not renew mine.

A sensible option might be to re-instate the Foreshore Permits at a sensible cost, say £100 and advertise them at all car parks.
