Patrol vessel to sail in for festival
A patrol vessel is heading to the River Tyne to tie in with the Mouth of the Tyne Festival.
HMS Tyne will visit its affiliated town of North Shields from Thursday to Monday.
The river-class offshore patrol vessel’s programme includes an evening reception and capability demonstration on Thursday, including a ceremonial sunset.
It will host visits from local school groups and cadets on Friday, before welcoming members of the public on board between 10am and 4pm on Saturday.
The visit will also mark the handover of the ship’s command from Lieutenant Commander Charlie Barrow to Lieutenant Commander Peter Barfoot.
There will also be members of the ship’s company attending a North Tyneside Council reception and the festival concert on Saturday evening.
