Volunteers at the PDSA's shop in Park Avenue are appealing for good quality books, household items and bric-a-brac to sell to raise funds for the charity's animal hospitals.

Donations can be dropped off at the shop between 9.30am and 5.30pm, Monday to Saturday.

The shop is also looking for more volunteers to join its team. They are looking for people who can work two shifts a week, at three to four hours each.

Free refreshments are offered as well as NVQs to those who are interested in taking their retail experience further.

For more information contact the branch on (0191) 251 3668 and speak to Malcolm or Jen.
