Age UK North Tyneside are hunting heroes for their Age Takes Centre Stage awards.

Age UK North Tyneside’s ‘Age Takes Centre Stage’ festival is on during October with a huge programme of groups, events and activities for over 50s taking place.

The month will culminate in the Age Takes Centre Stage People’s Awards, which celebrate the achievements of older people and their contribution to the local community.

Dawn McNally, chief executive Age UK North Tyneside, said: “This is a month long celebration of aging, focusing on the fantastic contribution older people make to their local communities.

“It is also an opportunity for older people to come together, try new activities and meet new people.

“Every one of us will be able to identify an older person who continues to do great things in their community.

“This is an opportunity to have them recognised for what they do by nominating them for an Age Takes Centre Stage award.”

October’s events include Dementia Connections – a service for those living with dementia in North Tyneside.

There is also a programme of Active Age activities and other social groups for people over 50, based around areas including arts and crafts, walks, gardening, reading, dancing, music, film and singing.

Activities and nomination forms can be found at www.ageuk.org.uk/northtyneside/activities-and-events/atcs-2019/

Both groups and individuals can be nominated.

Forms can also be collected from the charity’s head office at the Bradbury Centre, 13 Saville Street West, North Shields.
