Print firm puts Whitley Bay puts on the Formula 1 grid
An all-girl engineering team are on the road to success thanks to the support of a Monkseaton firm.
Print and design company Custer Design have provided the uniform for the SuffraJETS.
The team, pupils at Whitley Bay’s Valley Gardens Middle School, are competing as a Formula 1 in Schools team.
They are competing in the regional competition against other local teams to brand and market their team and to design and race a hydrogen-powered 3D printed car.
Team managers Maia and Adelle said: “We are very grateful that Custer has joined us to help inspire generations to come.
“Everyone at Custer has been very friendly and have given us a massive boost.”
The SuffraJETS’ graphic designer Darcie said: “Custer really brought our logo and brand to life and made our uniform look so professional!”
Orla, the sponsorship manager, and Rachel, the manufacturing engineer, were delighted that Custer had turned the team’s uniform ideas into reality and that they are very pleased to be working with them.
Kris and Karl Douthwaite, of Custer Design said, “We were delighted to have the opportunity to support the SuffraJETS.
“As a Monkseaton-based company we are always looking for ways to support our local community and it’s great to see the girls getting ahead in engineering. We are sure they’ll do brilliantly!”
The SuffraJETS are now set to racing the car they have designed in the regional competition in February.
