Places still available for beach assault

Adventurous fundraisers still have time to sign up for an exciting challenge and help support a new centre for ex-service men and women.

On Saturday, March 29, Whitley Bay Promenade and beach will be transformed as scores of people take part in the Warrior Beach Assault, a 10k assault course which has been put created by top sporting challenges organisers, Total Racing International.

Around 900 people have already signed up to take part and the hope is for a last minute push to take the number over the 1,000 mark.

Although the event is open to anyone wanting to raise funds for their own particular charity, the main focus is on getting people to sign up to raise £200,000 to fund a new veterans’ centre being built at the Elms West, Sunderland.

Those signing up will face challenges with names such as Tom, Dick and Harry, Jacob’s Ladder, and Galleon, along with the more sinister sounding Kill Zone and Beach Burn.

There will be a performance by the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers band, along with a kids play zone with bungee trampolines, go karts and paintballing.

Entry for the event is £49 a person and people can sign up at
