A new business start-up initiative building on the regional success of the Ready for Business enterprise programme has been announced by Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg.
The new Start and Grow programme, funded by the government’s Regional Growth fund, will again be delivered in the north east by start up support agency TEDCO Business Support, and across England by the Cavendish Consortium.
The programme aims to drive enterprise in areas where there are lower levels of business start-up.
The Ready for Business programme has so far created more than 630 new business starts and created an additional 485 new jobs in the north east since its launch in 2012.
Carole White, chief executive of TEDCO Business Support Ltd, said: “The Ready for Business programme has delivered exceptional value to the north east.
“We are delighted to be able to build on the success with the next phase of the RGF funded programmes.
“New business start-ups are vital to the future growth of the local economy and the government has once again recognised this with funding to deliver a programme which supports new businesses at a very local level.”
