Planned roadworks on A1 and A19 in Northumberland and North Tyneside

The following roadworks are being planned by Highways England for Northumberland and North Tyneside over the next week.

A1 Morpeth

Work is ongoing until Spring 2017 for the construction of a bypass. There will be various phases of daytime and night time lane and carriageway closures, with narrow lanes and a 40mph speed restriction in place. There will also be a 24-hour lane closure in place north and southbound until the project is completed.

A1 Ellingham to Belshill

There will be various phases of traffic signals north and southbound for investigation work, until July 27, between 8pm and 6am.

Traffic signals will be in place north and southbound for bridge maintenance work. This will take place from Monday to early August between 8pm and 6am.

A19 Killingworth to Moor Farm, North Tyneside

There will be a southbound carriageway closure for resurfacing work, taking place until Monday. All closures will take place between 8pm and 6am with a diversion in place.

And for those travelling further afield, roadworks are also planned on other major routes in the north.

A1 Lamesley to Swalwell, Gateshead

From Monday, July 11, to Friday, July 15, there will be a lane closures northbound between Junction 67 and 71. All these closures will take place between 8pm and 6am. The project is due to be completed by early August.

A1M junctions 60 to 61, County Durham

A contraflow will be in place north and southbound every night between 8pm and 6am with daytime 50mph speed restriction and hard shoulder running for structural maintenance. In addition to this, there will be a northbound carriageway closure on Friday, July 15, and Saturday, July 16, between 8pm and 6am with a diversion in place. This project will take place until late August.

A66 Hartforth to Scotch Corner, North Yorkshire

A convoy system is operating east and westbound for resurfacing work, between 8pm and 6am. This project is due for completion on Sunday, July 24.

A66 Bowes to Boldron, County Durham

There will be a carriageway closure east and westbound for resurfacing work from Monday to Thursday, July 28, between 8pm and 6am, with diversions in place.

A66M junction 57 to Blackwell, County Durham

The westbound lane will be closed for survey work from Monday to Wednesday, July 20, between 9am and 4pm.
