Steve Graham has trained with the lifeboat crew for six years

The Cullercoats’ volunteer crew member of six years passed out as helm on the station's Atlantic 85 .Steve, who runs his own plumbing business in and around Cullercoats, has been training as a helm since 2017.

He has been involved in a number of challenging 'shouts’, rescuing stricken people in that time.

For his final assessment, he passed both a written examination and a practical assessment out on the water, as the role demands courage, skill and determination.

Lifeboat operations manager, Frank Taylor, said “We are all so pleased for Steve. He has worked incredibly hard and he is an asset to the station.”
