Two leading poets from the region and a leading musician are in the line-up for the latest Free as a Bard poetry and music night at The Jam Jar Cinema, Whitley Bay on Sunday.
The Irish poet Colette Bryce is the author of four full collections, the latest of which The Whole & Rain – Domed Universe (Picador) was shortlisted for both the Forward and Costa prizes and was winner of a special Ewart-Biggs Award in memory of the poet Seamus Heaney.
Her reading at the recent Cullercoats based Eclectic IRON Festival was a sell-out.
Jeff Price has been a stalwart of the northern poetry scene for 20 years. He is a witty entertaining performer who has published two collections and runs Radikal Words and The Great Northern Slam at Northern Stage.
Singer/songwriter Steve Daggett’s solo album, Without, brought critical acclaim and compared him to Ray Davies and Elvis Costello. In 2013 Steve won the Mundell Music Award for the Best Live Singer-Songwriter. He was a member of the legendary North East band, Lindisfarne.
