Police hunt masked man after North Tyneside robbery

A masked man escaped with cash after threatening staff at a North Tyneside shop.

The man, his face covered with a balaclava and armed with what has been described as an edging tool, walked into Booze Buster on The Boulevard, Longbenton, at 12.40pm on Monday.

He demanded cash and left with an undisclosed amount. The staff member was shocked but unhurt.

The offender is described as a white man, aged late teens to mid 30s, of average height. He was wearing a black jacket.

Police are appealing for witnesses. Anyone who was in the area and who may have seen or heard anything suspicious is asked to ring 101, quoting log number 517 of 19/07/16, or ring the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
