Police investigating death of man make assault appeal

Police investigating the death of a Wallsend man are appealing for information.

Andrew Keenan, of Bewicke Road in Wallsend, died in the Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital near Cramlington on Monday, August 1, after being found at an address in Bewicke Road.

The 28-year-old’s death is being treated as unexplained at this time and inquiries are on-going to establish the circumstances around his death.

Officers believe that he may have been assaulted in Gladstone Street, just off Bewicke Road, sometime between 6pm and 7pm on Sunday, July 31, and want to speak to anyone who might have seen anything in that location.

Four people – three men aged 27, 30 and 35 and a 30-year-old woman – have been arrested in connection with the death and released on police bail.
