Police warning after cash machines tampered with

Police are reminding people to be vigilant at cash points after receiving three separate reports of tampered machines across Northumbria.

Officers have been making enquiries with banks to establish the purpose of an unknown device resembling a metal ruler, which has been placed to the left of the screen, covering the buttons.

While it is believed no thefts have taken place, investigations remain ongoing and police are asking the public to take cash out with care.

These three incidents are examples of good vigilance by members if the public and we would urge anyone who sees suspicious activity around cash machines or has any concerns to contact 101.
