A Wallsend school is getting on the ball after being given a kitbag full of soccer gear.
Pupils at Hadrian Park Primary landed the prize after Mandy Milbanke, a Tesco Bank employee, entered a competition run by her employer explaining why the school needed more sports equipment.
The Tesco Bank Football Challenge kitbag will be used by a new girls’ football team set up at the Addington Drive school.
Headteacher Angi Gibson said: “Pupils at Hadrian Park Primary thrive on participation in sports, and this is reflected and embedded within our school ethos.
“We would like to thank Tesco Bank for its generosity, especially Mandy, who not only nominated us but is a keen and avid supporter of our girls’ team, regardless of the weather.”
Adele Mills, a senior community investment manager at the bank, said “Through the Tesco Bank Football Challenge, we’re committed to getting children active.
“We hope the pupils will enjoy the kitbag.”
