Programme for festival is revealed

The full programme for this summer's Mouth of the Tyne Festival has been released.

A booklet is now available in tourist information centres and a range of borough venues – plus online at – for the event taking place from Thursday, July 7, to Sunday, July 10.

Alongside the concerts at Tynemouth Priory, visitors can look forward to international street entertainment with performers from France, Spain, Australia and Canada.

More artists have been announced for the Sunday concert at Tynemouth Priory, an event headlined by showbiz legend Lulu and R&B star Lemar.

Additions to the bill include jazz funk band Nick Pride and the Pimptones and indie electro-pop group Shields.

Concert goers can enjoy food from Riley’s Fish Shack and a range of independent street food traders and drinks from Wylam Brewery.

Tynemouth Station will host activities for under-5s as well as a showcase for local performers,.

There is a free jazz programme outside the Gibraltar Rock and hundreds of children and volunteers will take part in the annual pageant.

HMS TYNE will be open on the Saturday and Tyne Idols will run their Mouth of the Tyne tour on the same day.

Coun Eddie Darke, cabinet member for leisure, culture and tourism, said: “We’re pleased to announce such an exciting range of activities at this year’s festival and now visitors have time to plan exactly what they’d like to see and do.”

Mouth of the Tyne Festival, now in its 12th year, is organised by North Tyneside Council and supported by Tyne Met College, Kier, Port of Tyne and Arts Council England.
