Project gifted cash funding to help groups

A Borough project aiming to help organisations and groups network with each other has received cash support.

Park View Project has been awarded a grant from the European Social Fund and Community Foundation of Durham to help borough residents become an ‘information ranger’.

The project aims to support the voluntary sector by helping groups and projects to network.

Information rangers will be trained to help provide an insight into the community sector, as well as boosting the individual’s own personal skills.

A spokesperson for the project said: “This is a borough-wide co-owned development that we believe can be sustained by the community for the community.

“This is an opportunity for people to improve or develop their social media skills and identify the level of involvement they want, or they may only wish to have a presence on the website so they can have their ‘voice’ heard.

“Either way, we feel we have something to offer.”
