Proposed path will go between buses

I note with interest the criticism of North Tyneside Council’s Broadway Cycle Path plan published last week.

Potential users of the Broadway cycle path scheme, and those who thought it beneficial, need to be advised that in addition to the safety issues raised last week, the council’s current plan envisages that the cycle path will pass between the buses and the existing bus shelters (hardly the safest arrangement) and be diverted onto the road, and outside the bus bay, at Kennersdene.

Having already stated that one aim of the scheme is to encourage more children to travel by bicycle to schools in the area, how can such a scheme be safe for schoolchildren and others to use?
