Action has been taken against a North Shields pub after numerous reports of crime and disorder.
An application was made to North Tyneside Council to review the licence at the Garricks Head pub on Saville Street, following more than 21 incidents of drunkenness, disorder, drinking after hours and anti-social behaviour.
Police met representatives from the pub in February to discuss concerns and ensure matters were dealt with.
Since then, the issues have continued to be a matter of concern and the pub has now been ordered to close its doors after having its licence suspended for ten days.
The pub has also been ordered to close earlier on a Friday and Saturday night. Last orders will now have be called by midnight and everybody out of the pub by 12.30am.
Tenant Paul Barrass said: “It is disappointing we have to close for ten days.
“We disagree with the number of incidents that police have said have happened, but we are one of the most popular pubs in Shields and we hope people will support us.”
