Youngsters at the Percy Park site at Kings Priory School, Tynemouth, took part in activities to raise cash for the Newcastle branch of the RSPCA.

Year 4 chapter leaders sold RSPCA merchandise, and children were invited to dress as animals and take a cuddly toy to school in return for a donation.

They then worked in groups on a competition to design an animal poster, with the winning entry featuring a cheetah, designed by the Hotspur chapter team of Charlie Grayson, Ellen Marsh and Lucas Tierney.

A total of £837.88 was raised.

Year 3 teacher Jenny Large said: “This is a phenomenal achievement. Well done to everyone who made the morning such an enjoyable and worthwhile activity.

“The family atmosphere of the whole occasion was wonderful to see.”
