Pupils get a police grilling
Budding beat bobbies have been put through their paces in a high school skills event.
Year 11 pupils at Whitley Bay High School recently took part in its tenth annual interview skills day.
And this year local neighbourhood beat manager PC Paul McKenzie was invited to stage practice interviews for youngsters looking to join the police.
They were tested on their skills and suitability for the force for the chance to earn mock ‘job offers’.
After the process two pupils, Ciara Howes and Ruby Kelly, won through.
PC McKenzie said: “This event provided a great opportunity to chat to young people who are interested in joining the police and help them practice job interview skills to prepare them for the working world.
“Although only two could be selected as the winners, all students came across exceptionally well.”
