Pupils to host first market

A team of young entrepreneurs are putting the finishing touches to their Christmas Fair in aid of charity.

The group from Whitley Bay High School, who call themselves ‘Tycoon Bay’, are aiming to support communities in part of Africa.

The fair will take place at the school on Thursday, December 12, from 5pm to 7pm.

There will be a range of quality local business crafts ranging from handmade jewellery to delicious sweets.

And there will also be a range of festive entertainment provided by some of the students at the school.

Organisers say a percentage of the profits will be donated to support the students’ selected charity ‘Team Kenya’.

A spokesperson for the group said: “It is the first Christmas market to be held by the school and we hope to stimulate the local community to support the event, raise money for charity and support local businesses.”
