Whirlpool has recalled a range of kettles due to fears that they could present a burn hazard.

The KitchenAid Kettle, with model code 5KEK1722, has been found to pose a danger that the handle could become loose and separate from the body of the kettle, with a risk of burns.

The recall follows reports of kettles in the USA of handles separating, some of which led to minor burns.

The appliances concerned were manufactured between January 2013 and June 2017.

Whirlpool are advising anyone who possesses one of the affected kettles to stop using it immediately and contact Whirlpool, who will provide a free replacement.
