Recycling roadshows to visit outlet centre

Special roadshows will be calling at the Royal Quays Outlet Centre this week helping shoppers to reduce, reuse and recycle their waste.

The visit is part of North Tyneside Council’s recently launched ‘Changing Our Thinking’ campaign, aiming to increase recycling rates and reduce food waste in the borough.

The Love Food, Hate Waste Roadshow will provide shoppers with handy tips about how they can reduce their food waste and ideas for turning dinner leftovers into delicious dishes between 11am and 3pm on Friday, April 11.

And the following day, at the same time, the Recycling team will return to the Royal Quays with the Wash, Squash and Recycle Roadshow, during which the public will be challenged to take part in fun recycling games.

On both Friday and Saturday, shoppers will be encouraged to make a pledge to wash, squash and recycle their plastic bottles and in return will be invited to guess how many bottles are in a household recycling bin, with spot prizes up for grabs.

The Changing Our Thinking campaign is being funded through the Department for Communities and Local Government’s (DCLG) Weekly Collection Support Scheme and it is being delivered by North Tyneside Council in partnership with Groundwork North East, an environmental regeneration charity.
