Politics aside, my family and I would like to thank Norma Redfearn and North Tyneside Council for the vision they had regarding the redevelopment of Whitley Bay seafront, which is nearing completion.
Thanks also to all the workmen, who at times have worked in horrendous weather conditions, especially on the lower prom, to give us a seafront to be proud of.
Many residents were vocally very negative about nearly all of the plans submitted, but now are, no doubt, enjoying the benefit of the work done. But where are the letters in the News Guardian admitting that perhaps they were wrong?
This debate will go on and on, but let’s just enjoy the transformation Whitley Bay has needed for a long time and hope we have a long, hot summer to stroll along the promenade and pop into the Dome, which is looking wonderful, to sample the various restaurants and activities on offer.
I would also say the Premier Inn and Beefeater are a great asset to the region.
