Residents in part of Whitley Bay are celebrating sharing £2m on the People’s Postcode Lottery.
The organisation’s January Postcode Millions draw saw players in the postcode sector NE25 9 win, with the minimum prize being £1,000.
Winners will come together at the Village Urban Resort on Saturday to receive their prizes, with the full winning postcode being revealed on the day to collect the greatest share of the £2m pot.
Among the charities benefitting from the lottery is Depaul UK, which has its north east head office in Whitley Bay.
Joe Kirwin, regional volunteer recruitment co-ordinator at Depaul UK, said: “Players of People’s Postcode Lottery have awarded £275,000 to Depaul UK, enabling us to support many young people struggling with the immediate and long term effects of youth homelessness.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing all of the winners’ reactions as they receive their cheques and thanking them for their continued support.”
People’s Postcode Lottery presenter Judie McCourt said: “I am really looking forward to handing out lots of fantastic cheques and I would like to wish all the players in NE25 9 the best of luck.”
