RNLI crew come to the aid of broken down boat

The Tynemouth RNLI all-weather lifeboat was called out yesterday afternoon to tow a broken down vessel to shore.

The call came at 12.10pm following a report for help from the crew of a 16m charter boat that was being used for fishing. There were 12 people on board in total.

It had broken down 1.5 miles off the coast of Newbiggin.

After reaching the boat at 12.49pm, the lifeboat was able to tow it to safety to its base at Royal Quays Marina – the vessels arrived at the marina at 2.30pm.
