A YEAR’S fundraising from a north east homebuilder has seen more than £10,000 given to Tynemouth RNLI lifeboat station.

Staff at Barratt David Wilson Homes raised cash through a masquerade ball, an awards night for local sub-contractors, a sponsored cycle ride, coffee mornings and a pub quiz.

The company also donated £50 for every new home it sold during January, to raise £10,144.

Lifeboat operations manager David Stenhouse said: “All of the money raised will be used directly by the station to help save lives at sea.
“The RNLI is a charity that relies entirely on public support and in these times of economic difficulty, contributions like this are even more vital to support the work of our volunteer crews.”
