Police are appealing for information after a robbery at a bookmakers in North Tyneside.

The incident happened at just before 8pm yesterday when a man entered Ladbrokes, on Park Avenue, Whitley Bay.

He demanded money from staff, telling them to put it in a carrier bag. He then made off with a quantity of cash. The staff were left shaken but unharmed as a result of the incident.

The man is described as aged in his 40s, 5ft 11ins tall, of slim build, with shaven blonde hair. He was carrying an orange carrier bag which was possibly from Sainsbury’s. He was wearing a Newcastle training top and a thick silver chain around his neck.
