THE Robins are itching for a return to action after successive postponements at Tow Law and Ryton and Crawcrook Albion.
Thornaby are scheduled midweek opponents with Graham Fenton’s lads setting their sights on entertaining Chester-le-Street at the Daren Persson Stadium on Saturday, 3pm.
Last season the Cestrians won 1-0 on Tyneside, but in the 2010-11 campaign, strikes from Keith Douglas and Andy Bowman secured a 2-1 verdict for North Shields.
The Shieldsmen currently sit seventh in the Northern League second division table with games in hand on all but one of the teams above them.
An impressive sequence of results has seen 25 points achieved from the last 30 on offer coupled with four cup tie successes.
Convincing victories in the Northumberland Senior Cup, by 5-3 at Alnwick and 6-1 at West Allotment Celtic, have seen the Robins eagerly anticipating the semi-finals draw whilst a third round tie in the Northern League Cup awaits after wins over Morpeth Town and Darlington RA.
For the Chester-le-Street fixture, Fenton will be without top scorer Rob Nolan, who has to serve a one match ban for his dismissal at Stokesley.
Shields will select from Sean McCafferty, Joe Elliott, Dan Patterson, Michael McKeown, James Harmison, Femi Akinbolu, Adam Forster, Ben Richardson, Keith Douglas, Dean Holmes, Adam Rowntree, John Hook, Kieran Wrightson, Jonathan Hall, Michael Robinson, Andy Hay, Paul Watson, Philip Robinson, Michael Watson and Stewart Wright.
On Saturday, December 15, Shields travel to the west coast to take on a Whitehaven side one place above them (3pm) before three consecutive home fixtures against Washington (Saturday, December 22, 3pm), West Allotment Celtic (Boxing Day, December 26, noon) and Jarrow Roofing (Saturday, December 29, 3pm).
