Robins’ win brings back the memories

With reference to the win by North Shields FC in the FA Vase, which sent me down memory lane.

I have still have my two Wembley tickets signed by the team from April 1969 when North Shields beat Sutton United to win the FA Amateur Cup.

I went to all rounds, home and away. We left Shields on the Friday night from Appleby Park in a convoy of buses.

Wembley Way was like Saville Street. Then a couple of weeks later we saw the Toon win their last cup. Magic memories.

Good luck to the boys from Shields in the next hurdle. I will look carefully for their results in the next round.

I am now living a long way from home, but hopefully I will be off to Wembley and will take my kid to see some real bonny lads from Shields.
