A nurse is enjoying a well earned rest after completing the London Marathon.
Sarah Lane was one of thousands of people who took part in the Virgin Money London Marathon on Sunday.
And the 33-year-old, from North Shields, completed the 26-mile course in a time of 4hours 15minutes.
Sarah, a sister on the Children’s Heart Unit at Newcastle’s Freeman Hospital, has managed to raise more than £1,000 for The Sick Children’s Trust, which supports families with children undergoing treatment at the hospital.
The Trust runs ten Homes from Home across the country, including Scott House at Freeman Hospital, which provide vital emotional and practical support to families with sick children.
Speaking before the run Sarah said: “We see lots of children and families from all over the country coming to Freeman Hospital for the specialist treatment it offers.
“Scott House has made a remarkable difference to our families on the Unit.
“Our families and children are our world. Knowing that there is such a good team over at Scott House makes a huge difference to us.”
