Savvy students launch Sip, Swap and Support

WOMEN in the borough are being invited to sip wine, swap clothes and support charity at an event in Newcastle next week.

The charity clothes swap has been organised by Newcastle-based Allure Occasions, an event partnership supported by young enterprise and Newcastle University aimed at raising money for charity through social events, and will take place on Thursday, December 8, at The Caledonian Hotel, Osborne Road, Jesmond.

Organisers are encouraging women to search their wardrobes for between two and ten items of clothing or accessories, from necklaces to cocktail dresses to bring along to exchange for swapping tokens, which can, in turn, be exchanged for a ‘new’ item or outfit.

As well as the opportunity to swap their unwanted clothes, guests will also be able to enjoy a range of gift stalls and beauty treatments and even have their purchases professionally gift-wrapped.

Tickets for the event include a drink on arrival, canapés and entry to a prize draw with the chance to win a piece of jewellery supplied by Newcastle-based KM Jewellery Ltd worth £150. Each guest will also be given a complimentary bag of seasonal gifts.

Money raised from Sip, Swap and Support, which is sponsored by KM Jewellery, will help Operation Christmas Child. Run by Christian charity Samaritan’s Purse it sends gift-filled shoeboxes to underprivileged children and is the world’s largest children’s Christmas project.

The Sip, Swap and Support event lasts from 6.30pm to 10pm and tickets, which cost £10, are available or from the reception at The Caledonian Hotel.
