A Scout group is looking for ex-members as it prepares to mark a milestone.
The 3rd Tynemouth (Ritson’s Own) Scout Group will mark its 100th anniversary in May, marking the day with a special open weekend on May 16 and 17 at its headquarters in Billy Mille Lane.

Group leader Dudley Rogers said “Over the years we have seen hundreds of young people pass through our doors and we’d love to see them over the weekend, particularly on May 17 for the main celebrations.”
Scout leader Michael Dale added: “We are having a display to show items from our past 100 years which will not only be of interest to the people and families who were in our group but also to people with an interest in the area.”
He added: “We have been based at Billy Mill for most of our 100 years but our Scout Troop was in Tynemouth Haven during the early 1960s and our Cubs were in the Balkwell Community Hut.”
The Scouts have arranged for their group’s flags to be rededicated on Sunday, May 17, at 3pm and are keen to have as many of their ex-members there as possible.
Dudley said: “We already have people travelling from London, Surrey, Cumbria and even America to take part in both this and a celebration on Sunday evening, so we are really hoping the people who still live in the area will also join us”.
Full details of the weekend’s activities can be found on the Group’s website at www.ritsons.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk and ex-members or their families can contact Michael Dale on 07713 056858 or email email@example.com
