Young singers and bands are being given a chance to win a slot on stage at a major summer festival.
The Event@Segedunum is giving young bands and solo artists the chance to showcase their talents in an outdoor music festival in the grounds of Wallsend’s Segedunum Roman Fort on July 2.
Youngsters aged 11 to 18 are being invited to audition for a chance to perform, with the winning act on the day securing a place on the main stage at the Mouth of the Tyne Festival, in the grounds of Tynemouth Priory and Castle, the following weekend.
To apply, email firstname.lastname@example.org or you can download an application form via www.northtyneside.gov.uk
The deadline for applications is noon on Thursday, March 24.
Auditions will be held at the Y Studio, Queen Alexandra Sixth Form, Queen Alexandra Road, North Shields, on March 9 and 10 – for those who have already applied – and on April 4 and 5 for those who apply now.
North Tyneside’s Young Mayor, Kieran Archer said: “Events such as these bring me great pride to be Young Mayor; it provides young musicians with chance to showcase their talents.
“Inclusion is a wonderful thing, and The Event gives us great opportunity to come together and enjoy some fantastic music.
“Good luck to all the performers.”
The event is organised by North Tyneside Council, in partnership with Tyne and Wear Museums and Archives.
