There was a dramatic improvement in GCSE results in North Tyneside schools last year, with the borough's average well above the national average.

Today sees the publication of all the performance data for secondary schools in England for 2015. Here's a run-down of how schools in the area fared.

GCSEs

Nationally, the percentage of students gaining five GCSEs at A* to C, including English and maths, rose slightly from 53.4 per cent to 53.8 per cent. But in North Tyneside, the improvement was much more marked, increasing from 56.2 per cent in 2014 to 62 per cent, above the national average. Across the borough, the percentage of pupils making the expected progress from Key Stage 2 (age 11) to GCSEs was 74.9 per cent in English and 67.5 per cent in maths.

In North Tyneside as a whole, 93 per cent of students attained two or more A-Levels at A* to E, while 81 per cent gained three, compared to the national average of 92.2 per cent and 78.7. Below are the figures for the schools and colleges in the borough.
