A security guard was threatened by an armed robber during a raid in Wallsend.
The guard had been carrying a secure cash box in High Street East when he was approached by a man who threatened him with a weapon.
The security guard handed the box of money to the offender, who then made off towards Laburnum Avenue.
Witnesses said the robber was then met by a person waiting in a small silver vehicle and the pair drove off together.
A police spokesperson said: “The victim was uninjured but left shaken by the incident.”
Police are now appealing for information about the robbery, which happened at around 9.20am on Wednesday, April 8.
The offender is described as a white male, between 5ft 10ins and 6ft 2ins, and is believed to be aged between 20 to 30.
He was of stocky build and was wearing a dark coloured hooded top with dark coloured bottoms.
