Former staff and users are being sought to celebrate a service’s 30th anniversary.

Barnardo’s BASE is looking for people who have used the Whitley Bay facilities as a young person, or worked there, for the event.

A Birthday Brunch is being held on Thursday, June 23, between 10am and 1pm.

Anyone with a connection to the service has been invited to attend and see the refurbished building, meet old friends, share stories, and help raise money for the service to continue its work.

Refreshments and food will all be available for £3.

The BASE works with young people aged 15 to 25 in North Tyneside and surrounding areas. It welcomes all those in need, including young people in local authority care, with a disability or an offending history.

The BASE helps them to address their needs such as homelessness, unemployment, emotional wellbeing and antisocial behaviour. Last year it supported more than 300 young people.

Carla Franchi, children’s services manager, said: “We really hope everyone who has ever been with us at the BASE can come back and see us. It has been a wonderful 30 years and we really want to celebrate with the thousands of people whose lives have been touched by the work we have done.”

Anyone who wants to attend should call (0191) 252 2127.
