Shop staff threatened by thief with a knife

STAFF at a borough shop were threatened by a man with a kitchen knife.

Police are appealing for information after a man entered the Co-operative food store on Cleveland Road in North Shields, just before 10am on Thursday, November 1, threatened staff with a kitchen knife and stole a quantity of Lambert and Butler cigarettes.

No one was injured.

The man is described as being around 25-years-old, 5ft 10ins tall, wearing a grey Adidas tracksuit, white trainers and a balaclava.
