Shoppers are given advice at police stall

Residents have been given advice and crime prevention support as part of a partnership.

Officers from North Shields neighbourhood policing team joined with North Tyneside Council for the Operation Respect roadshow.

They set up a stall at the Beacon shopping centre.

Neighbourhood Inspector Geoff Cross said: “These events give residents and visitors the opportunity to talk to officers about any local community concerns they may have and to pick up crime prevention advice.

“They also spoke to council staff about local issues which affect their neighbourhood.

“We had a good response from people who stopped off during their shopping trip for a chat. We know the importance of dealing swiftly with concerns, to nip problems in the bud before they escalate and impact on the wider community.

“We work closely with the community and our partners at North Tyneside Council to make sure we find out what the local problems are and together we put plans in place to deal with any issues raised.”
