Society staff on their bikes

Staff at a borough business got in the saddle to raise money for a worthwhile cause.

The fundraising at Yorkshire Building Society in North Shields saw colleagues taking it in turns to cycle the distance of the first stage of the Tour de France, 190 kilometres, on a static bike.

Manager Nick Turnbull and staff members Rhonda Penman and Yvonne Coulson took turns during the day to complete the ride and pedal up the pounds.

Nick said: “It was a lot harder than a normal day at work, and we were all exhausted by the end of it – though maybe a bit fitter too.

“We all support Marie Curie and the work they do in supporting people suffering from terminal illnesses. We are delighted to have raised money for this worthy cause.”
