Pauline and Jack, who has been diagnosed with dementia.

After Jack was given the prognosis, he and his wife Pauline turned to Age UK in the borough.

They were keen to find out more about what they can both expect from the condition.

They began their journey with Age UK North Tyneside by attending Dementia Connected, a free four-week course supporting patients to take part in community activities, alongside training and practical advice for carers.

On completion of the course, they joined the many groups, including Time Travellers, a history and reminiscence group provided in partnership with Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums.

Pauline said: “Both Jack and I enjoy the groups. It helps to be with other people in similar situations to yourself.”
