SURFING enthusiasts helped clean up a beach as part of an annual initiative.
Volunteer group Surfers Against Sewage carried out the litter pick at Tynemouth Longsands in support of North Tyneside Council’s Big Spring Clean.
Hugo Tagholm, director of the surfers’ group, said: “Around 70 volunteers took part in the clean-up event at Tynemouth organised by our regional representative, Owain Davies.
“And we’re delighted that such a high percentage of the helpers were youth volunteers, with around 40 people aged 16 to 25 taking part.”
